Health & Nutrition

Promoting Health, Dignity, and Well-Being in Rural Communities

At Pradan Foundation, we believe that access to quality healthcare and proper nutrition is a fundamental right for every individual—especially in rural and tribal regions where health services are scarce. Our Health & Nutrition programme is designed to bridge the healthcare gap through affordable, accessible, and community-driven initiatives.

Our Approach

We follow a community-based, preventive, and curative healthcare model that prioritizes awareness, accessibility, and sustainability. Our initiatives combine traditional knowledge with modern healthcare practices to promote holistic well-being.

Rural Health & Training Centres

We operate 24/7 Rural Health and Training Centres in Hazaribagh and Chatra that serve thousands of families every year. These centers provide:

  • Outpatient (OPD) and Inpatient (IPD) services

  • Pharmacy and diagnostic facilities (pathology, scans, etc.)

  • Ambulance and emergency care

  • Referral support to higher medical institutions

  • Health counseling and awareness sessions

Community Health Interventions

We train local community health workers (CHWs) and ASHAs to deliver doorstep services and promote public health awareness. Our activities include:

  • Maternal and child health awareness (ANC, PNC, safe deliveries)

  • Immunization campaigns and follow-ups

  • Nutrition counseling and growth monitoring

  • Hygiene, menstrual health, and sanitation education

  • Conducting mobile health camps in hard-to-reach areas

Child & Maternal Nutrition

Malnutrition is a critical issue in tribal and backward areas. Our targeted interventions include:

  • Distribution of nutritious food supplements to children and pregnant/lactating women

  • Promotion of kitchen gardens to support household nutrition

  • Nutrition workshops and cooking demonstrations using local, low-cost ingredients

  • Coordination with ICDS and Anganwadi centers for mid-day meals and growth tracking

Partnerships & Linkages

We work in close collaboration with:

  • Local Government Health Departments

  • Anganwadi & ASHA networks

  • District Hospitals & Medical Colleges

  • Private medical practitioners and volunteers

These partnerships strengthen our ability to reach the unreached and scale our impact.

Our Impact So Far

  • 2 fully operational rural health centers with 24/7 services

  • 10,000+ patients treated annually across OPD/IPD

  • 150+ community health workers trained and active

  • 1,200+ malnourished children enrolled in nutrition support

  • 500+ kitchen gardens established for household nutrition
